The Mama Time Project is a creative wellbeing initiative for mums. Designed and facilitated by Caroline and fellow artist and mother Rachel Gildea. It is a response to becoming and being parents to young children, and to the need for a space to share what it’s really like: the amazing stuff, the boring stuff, the really, really hard stuff. No advice, just being alongside one another.
If you identify as a mum – whatever that means for you – this is your space.
Sessions are free to attend, and you are very welcome to bring your little ones. There is childcare support in the room so that you can focus on you.
Sessions are 1.5 hours, usually in the mornings. There’s coffee and cake and we spend time together in a safe, inclusive space, talking honestly about our experiences of parenthood. Sessions may include: gentle movement and listening to our bodies; writing; drawing and collage.
At the heart of the project is listening: to ourselves and to one another. We make space for people’s stories and experiences: the light, the dark, and the messy in-between.
Rooted in shared creativity and collective storytelling, the space is gently held by Caroline and Rachel as experienced facilitators who have their own lived experiences of motherhood. Caroline also brings their perspective as a trainee psychotherapist, supporting the creation of a safe, compassionate space for expression, solidarity and empowerment.

Feedback from participants:
“This type of thing is what is needed. All the baby groups are about the baby. It’s so important to have a space for mums and babies.”
“I didn’t have the time/money/mobility to get to therapy in the time when I was on maternity leave. I wish this space had existed then.”
“The mix of talking, moving, connecting is healing.”
“An inclusive, gentle, creative, rich, permissive, fruitful space.”
“Art, dance and connecting with mothers is vital to improve mental health and to help regulate ourselves.”
“It’s so great to come to a mums group where these difficult conversations are facilitated so carefully. It’s what we all need for connection and to feel less alone in it all.”
“Every mum needs these sessions.”
